I have recently been fascinated by medical surgeries.  Most surgeries are amazingly simple when you understand what is going on, but amazingly difficult when you consider that you have to do them on a living person. 

If you consider the old joke about the mechanic and the heart surgeon it is probably true that a car repair is more complicated than a heart repair in terms of steps and number of discrete parts.  It is also true that it is many times more difficult.  Fascinating.
